FRIENDSWOOD – As summer draws near, Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) announced the latest round of scholarships awarded through the Foundation’s Continuing Education Scholarship Program. In its third year, the program continues to grow and development FISD employees in their pursuit of expanding on their educational career and advanced credentials.
The Foundation has awarded $21,700 in scholarships as of this semester, thanks to Drs. Sara and Glenn Freedman, whose initial reward in 2024 helped launch the program, including a donation from the The Allstate Foundation and a tribute gift from the Wren family honoring the longtime legacy of FISD educator and administrator, Dr. Jean Wren. These contributions would strengthen FEF’s mission of supporting teacher recruitment, retention, and development across the district.
This program supports various goals for students finding the profession of their choice, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor’s degree; graduate coursework for Dual Credit instruction; Alternative Certification Programs; and National Board Teacher Certification cohort memberships. These opportunities benefit individual recipients and enrich the educational experience for FISD students districtwide.
