CRYSTAL BEACH — The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for the return of Jeep Weekend, scheduled for May 14 through May 17, with officials warning attendees to expect increased law enforcement presence and strict enforcement of beach and traffic regulations.
Sheriff’s office officials said deputies will be working alongside other law enforcement agencies throughout the event weekend across Galveston County beaches and surrounding areas.
Authorities said a zero-tolerance enforcement approach will be in place during the event, with deputies focusing on traffic violations, reckless driving and public safety concerns.
Officials also reminded visitors of several beach rules and restrictions that will be enforced during Jeep Weekend, including:
- no glass containers
- a 15 mph speed limit on the beach
- no reckless driving
- no littering
- no driving on sand dunes
- no bonfires
- pets must remain leashed
- open container laws apply inside vehicles
The sheriff’s office encouraged visitors to drink responsibly, follow traffic advisories and help keep beaches clean throughout the weekend.
