TEXAS CITY — Moore Memorial Public Library is preparing to kick off its Summer Reading Program with a dinosaur-themed community event later this month.

The library will host the kickoff celebration May 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring lifelike walking dinosaurs, a Jurassic-themed inflatable, face painting, games and activities for all ages, according to organizers.

Library officials said the event marks the beginning of a summer lineup that will include free programs and activities for children, teens and adults throughout the coming months.

Planned activities include youth yoga classes, cooking workshops, craft projects, movie screenings, escape rooms, fishing education classes, live performances and educational presentations.

The library will also offer teen-focused activities such as henna workshops and other hands-on programs.

Officials said all Summer Reading Program events, including the kickoff celebration, are free to attend.

More information about the program and upcoming events is available through the City of Texas City website.
