LA MARQUE — An Amber Alert issued for a 6-year-old girl has been canceled after authorities located the child safe in La Marque and took a suspect into custody, according to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.

Deputies said Kiara Hsieh was found safe, following what officials described as a rapid investigation and coordinated response involving multiple law enforcement units and partner agencies.

Authorities said the child was evaluated by EMS as a precaution and is expected to be reunited with her mother.

Investigators also took James Dean Ramirez into custody. Officials said Ramirez is the mother’s former boyfriend and is not the child’s biological father.

“This remains an active investigation,” the constable’s office said in a statement.

Constable Mark Herman praised the efforts of the agency’s Special Operations Unit, Special Victims Unit investigators and law enforcement partners for helping bring the case to a safe resolution.
