BRAZORIA — Several inmates were injured following a violent incident at the C.T. Terrell Unit prison near Rosharon, according to reporting by KTRK and information provided by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
State prison officials said five inmates were involved in an altercation that occurred during a religious gathering inside the facility.
Three inmates sustained injuries described as puncture wounds. Two of the injured inmates were transported to an outside medical facility for treatment, while another received care through the prison system.
Officials have not released details regarding what sparked the confrontation or how the injuries were inflicted.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said all injured inmates were reported to be in stable condition. The incident remains under investigation.
The C.T. Terrell Unit is located in Brazoria County near Rosharon and houses more than 1,500 inmates.
