DICKINSON — Emergency crews responded Tuesday afternoon after a garbage truck became entangled in multiple downed power lines, prompting a response from utility crews to safely secure the area.
The incident was reported around 1:20 p.m., according to Dickinson VFD’s Gaspar Gonzalez, who provided an update from the scene.
“At the moment we have three power lines that fell on top of a garbage truck,” Gonzalez said. “We have Texas New Mexico on the way to de-energize the area and get the occupant out.”
Officials said the truck became caught in the lines while traveling through the area, causing the power lines to come down on top of the vehicle.
Utility crews with Texas-New Mexico Power were called to disconnect power to the affected lines before emergency personnel could safely remove the truck and secure the scene.
No injuries were reported, and the occupant was safely removed from the vehicle.
The area was temporarily restricted while crews worked to address the hazard and restore safety. It was not immediately clear whether any power outages were associated with the incident.
The circumstances surrounding how the truck became entangled in the lines remain under review.
