LA MARQUE — A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with sexual assault of a child, according to the La Marque Police Department.

Police said members of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force–Galveston, arrested Joe Arthur Thomas on July 2.

Authorities said Thomas was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for Sexual Assault of a Child. His bond was set at $60,000.

According to investigators, the case began in March 2026 after a report was made to the La Marque Police Department.

The department said Detective Dominguez conducted the investigation, which was later presented to the appropriate authorities. An arrest warrant was obtained in June before Thomas was taken into custody.

The La Marque Police Department said it remains committed to investigating crimes against children and acknowledged the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force in the arrest.
