ALVIN — Firefighters in Alvin responded Friday afternoon to a structure fire in the Somerset subdivision off Mustang Road after a shed fire spread to a nearby home.
According to responders, crews were initially dispatched to a reported shed fire behind a residence. While units were en route, the fire was reported to have extended to the home. Neighbors also reported hearing possible explosions involving gas cans near the shed area.
Engine 11, Engine 31, and Engine 21 responded to the scene. Firefighters said Engine 11 initiated an aggressive attack upon arrival, with support from additional responding units. Crews were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further into the structure.
The home sustained damage to portions of the exterior, but no injuries were reported.
The Alvin Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Alvin Police Department assisted with traffic control to allow fire apparatus access to nearby hydrants. Alvin EMS also provided support for firefighter rehabilitation on scene.
