LEAGUE CITY — A Clear Creek ISD educator has been named one of five finalists for the Region 4 2027 Secondary Teacher of the Year award, recognizing her dedication to student learning, innovation and educational excellence.

Camia Lowman, an anatomy and physiology teacher at Clear Springs High School, has spent more than a decade serving students in Clear Creek ISD. A graduate of Clear Creek High School, Lowman said her work focuses on creating hands-on learning opportunities that encourage students to explore careers in science, medicine and engineering.

Lowman also serves as sponsor of Clear Springs High School’s NASA HUNCH Biomedical Engineering program, where students collaborate with NASA professionals while working on real-world engineering challenges. The program helps students develop technical skills and create solutions with practical applications.

Outside the classroom, Lowman serves as an assistant golf coach, leads the Science UIL Academic Team and supports multiple campus initiatives.

“Camia represents the very best of Clear Creek ISD,” Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle said. “Her passion for science education, commitment to creating authentic learning experiences and unwavering dedication to her students exemplify the excellence we strive for across our district.”

The Region 4 Teacher of the Year program recognizes educators who demonstrate instructional excellence, student achievement and leadership within their schools and communities.

Winners of the 2027 Region 4 Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year awards will be announced during the Region 4 Teacher of the Year Luncheon on Aug. 6. The regional winners will advance to represent Region 4 in the Texas Teacher of the Year program.
