10 PM Update From The NHC

• Edouard is expected to strengthen and it could approach hurricane strength before it reaches the northwest Gulf Coast on Tuesday. Tropical Storm conditions are expected along the northwest Gulf Coast with hurricane conditions possible from High Island to Cameron, where a Hurricane Watch was issued.
• A Storm Surge Warning has been issued from High Island, Texas to the Vermilion/Cameron Parish Line, Louisiana where peak values of 3 to 5 feet above ground level are possible along the immediate coast within the warning area.

Key Messages From The National Hurricane Center

• This system is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to portions of the Upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts on Tuesday. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Port Bolivar, Texas, to the Vermilion/Iberia Parish Line, Louisiana.
• Heavy rain will impact parts of the Upper Texas coast through east-central Texas into far Southwest Louisiana Tuesday and Wednesday as the system tracks inland. Flash flooding is likely across this region, especially in urban areas. River flooding may also be possible.
• A Storm Surge Watch has been issued from High Island, Texas, to the Vermilion/Cameron Parish Line, Louisiana. Peak values of up to 4 feet above ground level are possible within the watch area.

Rainfall

3 to 6 inches, with maximum totals of 9 inches of rain, is expected for parts of the Upper Texas Coast and inland through east-central Texas. This rainfall will make flash flooding possible, especially in low-lying and urban areas. River flooding may also be possible. Always remember, “Turn around, don’t drown!”.

Timing

Tropical Depression Five will start to impact Galveston County as it strengthens into Tropical Storm Edouard late tonight. Expect tropical storm conditions to arrive late Tuesday morning or early afternoon, with landfall expected somewhere near Galveston or the Upper Texas coast. Conditions should ease slightly Tuesday night into Wednesday morning as the system moves inland, but a flood watch will remain in effect through Wednesday morning.
