LEAGUE CITY — Fire crews responded to a possible structure fire at the Cracker Barrel Friday evening after a malfunctioning air conditioning unit produced enough smoke to activate the restaurant’s fire alarms.

The call came in around 5:57 p.m. Friday. When crews arrived, they went upstairs to locate the source of the smoke.

According to League City Fire Captain Jason Couvillon, crews found an A/C unit with a seized fan. The seized fan caused the belt to burn and produce smoke.

The situation was contained after firefighters located the source, and customers were allowed to return inside the restaurant.

Webster Fire provided mutual aid during the response.

No injuries were reported.
