LEAGUE CITY — The Rogue Fencers Guild held its annual fall tournament Saturday, Oct. 3, at the League City Community Center, bringing fencers from across the region together for competitions in epee fencing.

The Rogue Fencers Guild is a USA Fencing member club, with classes offered in Galveston, League City, Alvin and Deer Park. USA Fencing is the national governing body for the sport in the United States.

The tournament featured men’s and women’s epee competitions for unrated fencers, along with a mixed competition for male and female fencers who were either unrated or held an E rating from USA Fencing.

Youth competitions were also held in the Y10 and Y12 divisions. The Y10 division included youth born from 2016 through 2019, while Y12 was for those born from 2014 through 2017.

USA Fencing uses letter ratings from A, the highest rating, through E to classify competitive skill. U represents unrated or unclassified competitors who have not earned a letter rating in a particular weapon. According to the Rogue Fencers Guild, approximately 93% of USA Fencing members are unrated.

As part of a Rogue Fencers Guild tradition, the winner of each senior event also received a sword.
