GALVESTON — A chaotic fight erupted at the Port of Galveston terminal on Saturday after a Carnival cruise, resulting in multiple arrests and a total of 24 passengers being permanently banned from cruising with the company.
The fight broke out during the baggage pickup area, but the cause remains unclear. Video footage posted on social media by Trelle Ray shows passengers throwing punches, ganging up on others, and kicking people who had fallen to the ground.
Despite the intervention of security personnel and Customs and Border Protection officers, the video captures several people continuing to throw punches, even at federal officers trying to stop the fight.
Carnival responded by placing 24 passengers on their Do Not Sail list, meaning they will never be allowed to sail with the company again. “We will not tolerate such behavior,” Lupoli added. “These individuals can seek other cruise lines, but they are not welcome on our ships.”
The incident is under investigation, but Customs and Border Protection and Port of Galveston officials did not provide comment on the matter as of Saturday evening.
