LEAGUE CITY — League City residents will have a chance to take home a free tree next week as part of the city’s effort to maintain its “Tree City USA” designation.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the city will distribute 200 trees donated by Trees for Houston. The giveaway will run from 8 to 10 a.m., or until supplies run out, at 600 West Walker Street, across from the League City Police Department.

The trees, which range from 3 to 6 feet tall and come in three-gallon containers, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each family is limited to one tree, and residents must provide their own transportation.

Species available include Live Oak, Eastern Redbud, Mexican Red Oak, Southern Magnolia, and Shumard Oak.
