LEAGUE CITY – A 55-year-old man was arrested in League City after investigators say he was caught stealing materials from a storage unit connected to a stolen trailer case.
The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force announced the arrest Monday following an investigation that began Jan. 25, when Texas City police contacted the task force about a stolen trailer recovered at a storage facility on FM 3436 in Texas City.
Investigators determined someone had unlawfully entered a storage unit and left behind a stolen trailer loaded with building materials believed to have been stolen.
Through covert surveillance, investigators identified a suspect, Eric Padinah, 55, who they say was actively stealing materials from the storage unit. Deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division assisted with taking Padinah into custody in the 4600 block of FM 646 in League City.
The case was presented to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, and Padinah was charged with burglary of a building. His bond was set at $60,000.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force at 409-766-4500.
