Viral posts circulating online claim that 13-year-old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel has died, but officials confirm the reports are false.

DJ, who is battling brain and spinal cancer, is known for traveling across the country to visit police departments. He has also famously met President Trump during his journey.

The false claims began spreading two days ago, quickly gaining traction across multiple social media pages.

Kemah Police Chief Raymond Garivey, an advocate for DJ, confirmed to KGTX 7 that the teen is alive and well.

“It’s sad to see people posting fake news about a 13 year old boy passing from cancer, just to get likes and views,” Chief Raymond Garivey told KGTX 7.

DJ’s family has asked individuals and social media pages to stop sharing posts falsely claiming he has passed. As of today, several newer pages continue to circulate the inaccurate information.
