LEAGUE CITY – Texas Land Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham will visit League City this week to announce coastal project funding for several communities and organizations along the Texas Gulf Coast.

The Texas General Land Office will host a check presentation ceremony at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the North County Galveston County Annex on Calder Drive.

During the event, Buckingham is expected to announce Coastal Resources project funding for counties, cities and organizations working to preserve the ecological and economic health of the Texas coast.

Recipients scheduled to receive funding include Brazoria County, Galveston County, the cities of Kemah, La Marque and Palacios, as well as organizations such as the Galveston Bay Foundation, Coastal Prairie Conservancy, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and several Texas universities.

Officials say the funding supports projects aimed at protecting coastal habitats and strengthening long-term environmental and economic resilience along the Gulf Coast.
