Texas City’s Saturday Art Festival accepting submissions for cash prizes and public showcase

TEXAS CITY – Artists are invited to submit their work this Saturday for a chance to be featured in the annual Texas City Art Festival and compete for cash prizes.

Submissions will be accepted on Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center, 2010 5th Ave. N. Artwork can be submitted in four categories: Under Glass Hanging, Not Under Glass Hanging, Photography, and Three-Dimensional.

Prizes in each category include: Honorable Mentions ($25), Third Place ($200), Second Place ($300), First Place ($400), and Best of Show ($500). Awards will be presented at the Opening Night Ceremony on Saturday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m.

The Texas City Art Festival is a five-day event celebrating more than 25 years of community art. The festival features over 1,000 works of art, offers free workshops, awards thousands of dollars in prizes, and provides scholarships for local students. Artists may also list their pieces for sale during the event.

Public viewing of the festival will take place:

  • Sunday, March 29: 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 30: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 31: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 1: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

The festival also showcases hundreds of pieces created by local students across a variety of mediums.

Presented by the Texas City Cultural Arts Foundation and the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, the event celebrates local artists and aims to inspire the community.
