Scooter rider critically injured in Galveston crash

GALVESTON – A driver on an electric scooter was critically injured in a crash involving an SUV in Galveston Monday night.

According to Galveston Police, the crash happened around 10:25 p.m. near the intersection of 45th Street and Avenue R 1/2.

Officers arrived at the scene and began life-saving measures until paramedics transported the scooter operator to the University of Texas Medical Branch hospital. Police say the rider remains in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
