PEARLAND — A quiet night in Galveston County turned into a high-speed police pursuit early Friday morning after a robbery at a Pearland Walgreens led officers on a multi-city chase that ended in a violent wreck.
The Incident
According to Pearland Police Department Public Information Officer Chad Rogers, the incident began at the Walgreens located at 3287 Broadway in Pearland, around 2am.
Police report that a male entered the pharmacy and attempted to steal medical needles. During the encounter, the suspect allegedly assaulted a pharmacist before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
The Pursuit and Crash
Pearland officers located the suspect shortly after the robbery, but the man refused to pull over. The pursuit traveled through city streets and eventually crossed into Friendswood.
The chase came to an abrupt end at the intersection of North Friendswood Drive and Annette, where the suspect lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. KGTX 7 News arrived on the scene shortly after to find the wreckage secured by a heavy police presence.
