GALVESTON – Lasker Park Community Pool in Galveston is set to reopen for the spring season later this month, with city officials announcing an April 18 start date.
According to a press release, the facility, located at 2016 43rd Street near Ball High School, includes a recreational pool equipped with children’s play features and a body slide, as well as an eight-lane lap pool.
According to the city, the lap pool will operate on a split schedule during the spring. Hours are set for Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Weekend hours will run from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with the facility closed on Mondays.
The splash pool is scheduled to open May 16, initially offering weekend hours from noon to 4:45 p.m. Both pools will shift to expanded hours beginning May 30 as the site moves into its summer schedule.
City Manager Brian Maxwell said the pool serves as a key community resource for both residents and visitors, providing a place to stay active and cool during warmer months.
The pool will be open to the public. City officials also noted that lifeguard positions are currently available.
