Texas City search warrants lead to felon firearm arrest

TEXAS CITY — A 36-year-old woman is facing felony charges after multiple law enforcement agencies executed search warrants in Texas City as part of an ongoing organized crime investigation.

According to the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force, investigators identified Margaret Jones as a convicted felon who was allegedly in unlawful possession of firearms and related equipment.

Authorities said the warrants were carried out Tuesday, April 21, with assistance from the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and the Texas City Police Department SWAT team.

During the search, investigators recovered multiple firearms, a silencer and a bulletproof vest, according to the release.

Jones was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and unlawful possession of body armor by a felon.

Officials said bond was set at $200,000, and Jones is currently being held at the Galveston County Jail.

The Organized Crime Task Force includes the Galveston Police Department, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, League City Police Department and Dickinson Police Department.
