FRIENDSWOOD — Two people have been charged following a burglary investigation that began after neighbors noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a residence where the homeowners were away, according to the Friendswood Police Department.

Police said officers responded May 29 to the 700 block of Falling Leaf Drive after residents and family members reported seeing an unfamiliar vehicle in the driveway. Witnesses confronted a suspect in the yard before the individual left the area in the vehicle.

When officers arrived, they discovered signs of forced entry at the home. Family members later reported several items missing or disturbed, including a box containing bonds, personal documents, photographs and two boxes of silver coins.

On May 30, police arrested Zachary Corley, 19, of Pearland, and Sophia Leggio, 20, of Friendswood.

Investigators and members of the department’s Field Support Unit used photographs of the suspect vehicle and evidence collected at the scene to identify and locate suspects.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Criminal Trespass of a Habitation against both suspects. Bond was set at $7,500 for each defendant.
