Slight Storm Chances
With Post Tropical Cyclone Arthur moving out of the region, a hotter and drier pattern and weekend is expected for Galveston County. There remains a Slight Risk (Level 2/4) for excessive rainfall today for League City and places north while there is a Marginal Risk (Level 1/4) for Galveston Island. The forecast models, however, are showing isolated storms staying near Houston proper and areas north through the evening.

Saturday we remain in a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall. This is due to higher confidence in early morning isolated showers and thunderstorms with chances greatly decreasing through the day.

Here Comes The Heat
Overall a beautiful but hot weekend is in store. A heat advisory is in affect through Saturday night at 10 PM. Temperatures will hover in the low 90s but heat indices will be reaching the mid-to-upper 100s during the day. Do not forget to stay hydrated, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Also, take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing, try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening, and take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Lastly, a high risk of strong rip currents is expected through the weekend, so be careful if you have any activities planned along the coast.
Have a great weekend everyone!
