The Weekend

A ridge of high pressure is beginning to settle back in, and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Scorching hot temperatures will accompany the calmer weather being ushered in by the high pressure system dominating the weather pattern across much of the Central United States.

Daily high temperatures in the low 90s are expected, with “feels-like” temperatures exceeding 100 degrees each day, beginning to reach up to 110 on Sunday. Much of next week will be like this, but more on that in the weekly forecast coming on Monday morning.

There won’t be much relief overnight either, as the high dewpoints will keep low temps near 80 degrees each night. Be sure to take proper precautions to prevent heat exhaustion and heat related illnesses, especially as we enter the upcoming week.

Low rain chances will persist through Friday afternoon. I am keeping rain chances below 20% both today and Saturday, with abundant sunshine expected all day Sunday.

Post-Bertha Update

Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall on the Texas Coast on Wednesday, with that it brought mainly gusty winds to the area, and up to an inch of rain in some areas. The remnants of Bertha have since dissipated over land.

There was a few reports of 60+ mph wind gusts, but overall the storm behaved as forecasted and didn’t bring much in terms of impacts to the coast.
