GALVESTON — Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire early Tuesday morning in the 22200 block of Guadalupe Street, where the house was found fully engulfed in flames.

Fire Chief Mike Varela said the call came in at approximately 5:56 a.m. Oct. 27. Engine 8 was the first unit to arrive and found the house fully involved in the fire.

Crews took a defensive approach to fighting the fire. Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 9:30 a.m.

The house appeared to be vacant at the time of the fire, according to Varela. The cause remains under investigation by the fire marshal.

The response included four fire engines, a ladder truck and an additional engine from Jamaica Beach.
