As of writing this early Friday afternoon, isolated thunderstorms are already impacting the area. Storm activity has remained fairly isolated, focusing itself along the sea-breeze front as it continues to push inland with increasing daytime heating.

I expect anymore storms that do continue to form throughout the afternoon to dissipate by your evening commute, around 5-6pm CT.

As we have seen throughout this week, the storms that do form are very slow moving and dump a lot of rain in a short period of time. Be sure to take extra precaution when driving in any of these pop-up storms, due to their heavy downpour potential. Turn around, don’t drown.

Overall, I am not forecasting widespread rainfall. The nature of the thunderstorms forecasted are short-lived and rely on the sea-breeze boundary to provide enough support to get storms initiated. This is why rain chances remain low, yet some storms end up forming and bring a lot of rainfall over a small area.
