High pressure will remain over the region Friday, with westerly winds of 5 to 10 mph. Heat index values are expected to rise throughout the afternoon and early evening.

A heat advisory is in effect for the region through 7 p.m. Saturday. Heat index values could reach 110 degrees or higher, particularly in urban areas and locations exposed to direct sunlight.

Dry, sunny and hot weekend

Temperatures will gradually rise into the upper 80s Saturday morning before reaching the lower 90s during the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies and dry conditions will continue throughout the day. Clear skies and temperatures in the lower 80s are expected Saturday evening.

Winds will remain out of the west at 5 to 10 mph. High pressure and daytime heating will contribute to dangerously hot conditions during the afternoon and early evening.

Heat index values could range from 110 to 112 degrees before the heat advisory expires at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s Sunday morning before reaching the lower 90s during the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies and dry conditions will continue as high pressure remains over the region.

Winds will shift out of the south at 5 to 10 mph. The southerly flow could bring a slight increase in humidity as warm, moist air moves into the region.
