PEARLAND — Two men wanted in connection with a homicide in Marksville, Louisiana, were arrested Saturday, Oct. 17, after a vehicle alert led Brazoria County sheriff’s deputies to their vehicle in Pearland.

At approximately 12:03 p.m., deputies received a Flock automated license plate reader alert for a vehicle traveling in Manvel. The vehicle had been added to a hotlist by the Marksville Police Department in connection with a homicide reported four days earlier.

Shortly before 1 p.m., a Brazoria County sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle traveling northbound on Cullen Boulevard in Pearland. Deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers later conducted a high-risk traffic stop in a retail parking lot off Cullen Boulevard.

The two occupants were identified as Dawayne Richard, 27 (pictured), the driver, and Tylan Turpeau, 29 (mugshot unavailable), the passenger. Both were wanted in connection with the killing of a 51-year-old man in Marksville, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.

While searching the vehicle, deputies located a handgun with a serial number matching that of the weapon used in the homicide, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Richard and Turpeau were arrested and booked into the Brazoria County Detention Center.
