LEAGUE CITY — League City residents may notice temporary yellow or brown discoloration, or a slight change in odor, in their tap water following heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Edouard, city officials said.
The city said heavy rain across the Trinity River Basin affected the quality of source water supplied to the City of Houston’s Southeast Water Purification Plant, which provides a significant portion of League City’s drinking water.
Houston’s treatment process continues to operate effectively, but naturally occurring materials and minerals may be more noticeable under current conditions, according to the city.
League City said its drinking water remains safe to drink. Testing of treated water meets or exceeds applicable federal and Texas drinking-water standards, officials said.
City staff will continue monitoring water quality throughout the distribution system and will provide updates if conditions change.
