Lyndi Guthrie Avatar

LEAGUE CITY — A League City police vehicle was involved in a crash Wednesday around 9:20pm, along the southbound Gulf Freeway feeder road near the League City ballpark, according to law enforcement officials.

League City police Officer Jose Ortega said the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Tommy Maffei also confirmed that no injuries had been reported.

Maffei said preliminary information indicated the League City officer was attempting to catch up to a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed and possibly fleeing.

As the officer attempted to catch up to the motorcycle, another vehicle made a wide right turn near the ballpark and was struck by the police vehicle, Maffei said.

The crash remained under investigation Wednesday night.
