LEAGUE CITY — League City Animal Care and Adoption will host Día de los Perros on Saturday, Oct. 24, featuring free pet adoptions, local vendors, food, children’s activities and a pet costume contest.

The event is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. at 755 W. Walker St. in League City.

Organizers are inviting attendees to participate in a community ofrenda honoring pets that have died. Visitors can bring a photo of a beloved pet or write the pet’s name on a sugar skull to add to the display.

The pet costume contest will allow attendees to dress up their animals for photographs. After the event, the community will be able to vote for their favorite costumes.

The event will also include activities for children, along with local vendors and food.

League City Animal Care and Adoption’s adoption center and pet resource center will close at 2 p.m. Saturday to prepare for the event. The adoption center is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. for the festivities.
