Warm, Dry, and Comfortable Weekend Ahead

Caitlin Lawrence Avatar

Key Highlights

  • An air quality alert has been issued for high concentrations of ozone all throughout Friday. People with breathing and respiratory health issues should limit outdoor plans and keep themselves in areas that are less exposed to the toxic ozone chemicals.
  • High pressure will bring warm, dry, and less humid conditions all throughout the weekend.
  • There is a slight risk of fire weather potential over the weekend due to drier conditions, decreased humidity, and light winds
  • High temperatures will range in the upper 70s and favor the lower 80s the most. Low temperatures will remain in the lower 70s.

The Weekend

Expect dry, warm, and sunny conditions to persist from Friday through Sunday as high pressure dominates the region. High temperatures will range from the upper 70s to mostly in the lower 80s throughout the weekend. Low temperatures will linger in the lower 70s. Dewpoints will remain low along with less humid conditions, which will allow for comfortable weather to remain throughout the weekend.

On Friday, expect an air quality alert as ozone levels increase throughout the day allowing for some toxic chemicals to be released that will have increased concentrations in some confined locations such as urban areas. There is also a slight chance of fire weather all throughout the weekend as humidity levels decrease, conditions stay dry, and as winds remain light.

Winds will be light and variable on Friday starting from the north, then gradually shifting east, then southeast. Winds will remain from the east on Saturday and Sunday with a slight breeze at 10-15 mph with a gust up to 20 mph near the coast.

Tropical Weather Update

The National Hurricane Center has displayed a group of weak disorganized showers and thunderstorms associated with a low pressure system that is currently located a few hundred miles east of Bermuda. These storms are expected to maneuver in a north to northeasterly direction within a day or two and weaken rapidly as it encounters highly unfavorable environmental conditions to support any increased storm development. Therefore, southeastern Texas will remain clear of any tropical storm activity throughout the weekend.
