LEAGUE CITY – A large new mural is taking shape in League City, showcasing the community’s rich natural scenery and coastal charm — thanks to the brush of local artist Adam Socie.
Socie, a League City resident and internationally recognized muralist, is currently working on a two-story mural at the corner of FM 518 and Interstate 45. The design features scenes inspired by the city’s underappreciated waterfront areas, including wetland wildlife and recreational activities like fishing and kayaking.
“People don’t realize how much waterfront property League City actually has,” Socie told KGTX 7. “I wanted to highlight that hidden beauty.”
The mural is part of League City’s public art initiative and was approved by the building owners and members of the Keep League City Beautiful committee. It’s being funded by Hotel Occupancy Tax funds — money collected from local hotel stays — which the city reinvests into projects that enhance tourism and community engagement.
This isn’t Socie’s first mural in the area. He previously completed the vibrant mural at the Walker Street city pool, another piece that celebrates local life and nature. While his work takes him across the state and around the world, he says creating art in his hometown is especially meaningful.
“I usually work on my murals during the weekends,” Socie shared, noting that the current project still has a lot of work left.
Once completed, the new mural will serve as a visual landmark and a tribute to League City’s natural identity. The public is encouraged to pass by and watch the mural progress over the coming weeks.
KGTX 7 News will continue following the story and bring you updates on its completion.
