BRAZORIA COUNTY – Two people were killed and two others injured in a motorcycle crash on County Road 257 on Friday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Preliminary investigation shows that at approximately 11:21 a.m., a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a westbound 2012 Harley-Davidson. Two other eastbound vehicles, a 2019 Mercedes GLC and a 2009 Harley-Davidson, were behind the Yamaha at the time of the crash.

The Yamaha’s driver, 80-year-old Arthur Lee Vanderburg Jr. of Clute, was pronounced dead at the scene. The westbound Harley-Davidson rider, 62-year-old Joseph Serrano, later died at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

The Mercedes’ occupants, Sara and Paul Brinnel of Manchester, New Hampshire, were not injured. Pedro Silva, 31, of Angleton, and Esther Patlan, 32, of Clute, riding the second Harley-Davidson, were transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lake Jackson for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
