LA MARQUE – Academy Sports + Outdoors is coming to La Marque. The store will be located along FM 1764 near the former Gulf Greyhound Park. Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2026, with an expected opening in mid-2027.

The project is part of a larger retail development in La Marque that will include more than 200,000 square feet of new retail space. City officials say the development will bring additional shopping, dining, and service options for the growing community.

Academy Sports + Outdoors operates more than 300 stores in 21 states. The stores sell sporting goods, hunting and fishing gear, camping equipment, athletic apparel, and footwear.

The development is being managed by Main Street Commercial Partners, a Texas-based commercial real estate company that develops and manages retail and mixed-use properties.

City officials said the project will provide more shopping options for residents and added that updates will be shared as construction progresses.
