TEXAS CITY — A 22-year-old Texas City man was arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Texas City Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Police said the investigation began after the department received multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
According to investigators, Xavier Maxiey was identified as a suspect during the investigation and was taken into custody April 22 in the 1900 block of 17th Avenue North.
Authorities said Maxiey was charged with possession of child sexual abuse material and possession with intent to promote child sexual abuse material.
Bond was set at a combined $500,000, with $300,000 for the first-degree felony charge and $200,000 for the second-degree felony charge.
Police said the investigation involved assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pearland Police Department, La Porte Police Department and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone with information involving the suspect and crimes against children to contact Detective Webb.
