Two arrested after shots-fired call leads to chase in Texas City

TEXAS CITY — Two people were taken into custody early Sunday after a shots-fired call led officers on a pursuit down State Highway 146, police said.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched around 1:38 a.m. to the 600 block of 6th Street following reports of gunfire in the area.

When officers arrived, they spotted a blue 2024 Nissan Sentra leaving the scene and attempted a traffic stop.

Police said the vehicle fled southbound on SH 146, prompting a pursuit.

The chase came to an end in the 100 block of SH 146 with assistance from state troopers, where both occupants were apprehended.

Authorities identified one suspect as 28-year-old Nathaniel Gemmel, who was charged with deadly conduct. Bond was set at $15,000.

A second suspect, 26-year-old Erin Cortez Anciso, was charged with evading arrest. Bond was also set at $15,000.
