I am running because this city is my home. It shaped me and gave me opportunities that helped me grow into who I am today. I believe deeply in the potential of our community, and I want to ensure that as Texas City continues to grow, that growth benefits every resident.
The most pressing issue facing Texas City is a lack of trust between residents and our local government. Many people feel unheard, and misinformation continues to divide our community. We can rebuild trust by actively involving residents in decision-making. I will establish a community advisory council to give residents a direct voice on important issues and create a stronger layer of accountability.
Transparency and accessibility are key to rebuilding trust. I believe in an open-door policy at City Hall. I will host regular town halls citywide to meet people where they are and ensure every voice is heard. I support expanded public comment at city commission meetings to show residents that their opinions matter and are valued.
Regarding government structure, I believe it’s time for Texas City to modernize. I support transitioning to a council-manager form of government, where elected officials focus on policy and a professional city manager handles day-to-day operations. This change will foster a more balanced system and give residents confidence that decisions are made collaboratively and professionally.
Economic development is another major priority. I believe real growth starts with our small, locally owned businesses. These are the businesses that give back, supporting our schools, sponsoring little leagues, and investing in our community. As Commissioner, I will work to reduce unnecessary barriers and make it easier for mom-and-pop businesses to open and thrive in Texas City.
At the same time, we must improve the quality of life for our residents. That means investing in infrastructure upgrades, supporting flood mitigation projects, and proactively maintaining roads.
Public safety is also critical. We must rebuild trust and collaboration between city leadership and our police officers, ensuring they have the support they need to serve our community effectively.
What sets me apart is my commitment to service, my experience working directly with the community, and my willingness to listen. I will look at the facts, hear all sides, and make decisions that truly reflect the needs of our residents.
At the end of the day, you’re not just voters to me, you’re my neighbors. This city belongs to you, and it’s our responsibility to work together to make it stronger.
I’m here to do the work, and I hope to earn one of your two votes for Texas City Commissioner at Large.
