LEAGUE CITY — A routine stop at a League City gas station turned into a multimillion-dollar win for a Galveston County resident who claimed a $7.5 million Texas Lottery scratch ticket prize, according to the Texas Lottery and reporting from KHOU 11.

Lottery officials said the winning Loteria Supreme scratch ticket was purchased at TL Mini Express on Tuscan Lakes Boulevard in League City.

According to the Texas Lottery, the winner bought the ticket while making a stop before taking a dog to a grooming appointment.

The claimant told lottery officials that after winning on several scratch tickets in a row, more tickets were purchased — including the eventual top-prize winner.

“After scratching it, I realized I’d won the top prize,” the winner said in a statement released by the Texas Lottery. “Then my hands started shaking and I tried not to have a heart attack!”

The winner also said the money could help provide long-term financial stability for the family and future generations.

The winning ticket was sold at TL Mini Express, located at 3100 Tuscan Lakes Boulevard. The Texas Lottery said the retailer may qualify for a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket through the state’s retailer incentive program.

Lottery officials said this marked the second of four top prizes available in the Loteria Supreme game to be claimed.

According to the Texas Lottery, the game features more than $482 million in total prizes, with overall odds of winning any prize listed at one in 3.23.

Players must be at least 18 years old to purchase lottery tickets in Texas.
