TEXAS CITY — Authorities are asking for the public’s help after law enforcement equipment was stolen from an unmarked vehicle in Texas City, prompting an active investigation and a reward offer of up to $5,000.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas City Police Department, the burglary occurred May 8 involving an unmarked law enforcement vehicle.
Investigators said the stolen items included a .300 Blackout AR-style rifle equipped with a suppressor, a sheriff’s office-issued ballistic vest and a deputy’s duty belt.
Authorities said crime scene investigators processed the vehicle and recovered multiple latent fingerprints. Officials added that investigative leads are currently being pursued.
Law enforcement agencies are urging anyone in possession of the stolen items to return them immediately, warning the equipment poses a potential public safety threat if used improperly.
