GALVESTON – On Monday Afternoon, May 5, 2026, a Galveston County jury sentenced Myrron Theodulph Willie, of La Porte, Texas, to 20 years in prison for sexual assault.
In May of 2015, La Marque Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a sexual assault that had occurred at a home on Pear St. in La Marque. The case remained uncharged until 2024, when an LMPD review of cold cases led to Willie’s indictment.
Jury trial began April 29 with Galveston County District Attorney’s Office Chief Violence Against Women Prosecutor Kate Willis and Assistant D.A. Erika Mercado conducting the prosecution Jurors first heard from LMDP Sergeant Richard Hernandez who was the officer who responded to the original call for service over a decade ago. He explained the demeanor of the victim and explained the steps that followed, including the victim undergoing a sexual assault exam by a specially trained nurse.
Next the jury heard from the two charged victims, A.L. and C.F. Both described the control and abuse used on them by Willie. On cross-examination, the defense questioned the two women regarding an alleged conspiracy between them to hurt Willie because of child custody disputes. However, the State’s next witness, Nellie Loewen, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Director at UTMB, presented not only the SANE exam of A.L. but also of another victim, J.J., who had reported a sexual assault by Willie in Webster, Texas in 2018. Texas DPS Crime Lab scientists presented evidence that linked the DNA in J.J.’s SANE exam to the DNA in A.L. ‘s SANE exam and then linked those results to Willie’s DNA.
The jury heard from two more victim’s, B.J. and J.H., who were each in a relationship with Willie before the 2015 allegations. These women also testified to the controlling patter of behavior by Willie and his ultimate sexual assaults of them. Detective Matthew Cypert testified to his re-examination of the case in 2024 and how, after confirming the DNA evidence and interviewing more than nine victims who alleged sexual assault by Willie, he asked the District Attorney’s Office for charges on the sexual assaults of C.F. and AL.
Willie took the stand in his own defense, and on cross-examination by Willis admitted that every woman he has been intimate with, including his current wife, has accused him of rape.
The case was sent to the jury late Friday. The jury returned a verdict of guilty on one charge and not guilty on the second Monday afternoon. The punishment trial began immediately with Willis arguing for the maximum punishment based on Willie’s 17-year pattern of behavior, multiple victims without justice, as well as inappropriate conduct towards students when Willie was teaching at Hitchcock High School. The jury deliberated for less than ten minutes before returning the maximum punishment of twenty years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, as well as a $10,000 fine.
The Galveston County Criminal District Attorney commends the La Marque Police Department, specifically Detective Matthew Cypert, as well as the Webster Police Department, University of Texas Medical Branch and Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab for their involvement in this case.
