BOLIVAR — A 22-year-old man is in custody after authorities say a random stabbing at a Port Bolivar convenience store left both the suspect and victim injured Friday night.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10 p.m. May 8 to a reported stabbing at Fisherman’s Cove Food Mart.
Investigators identified the suspect as Jordan Lowe.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation found the victim was walking into the store when Lowe allegedly approached him, produced a knife and stabbed him. During the assault, the victim reportedly defended himself, gained control of the weapon and stabbed Lowe before Lowe fled to his vehicle and drove to the rear of the business.
The victim later left the scene and reported the incident to law enforcement. Authorities said the victim suffered superficial, non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies later located Lowe suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was transported to University of Texas Medical Branch, where he underwent surgery. Authorities said Lowe remains in custody at the hospital with a deputy assigned to remain with him.
Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and reviewed evidence and surveillance footage related to the incident. Investigators determined the attack was random and that the victim did not know Lowe, according to the sheriff’s office.
After consulting with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, Lowe was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $50,000.
