HITCHCOCK – Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday morning on State Highway 6 in Hitchcock

The collision happened shortly before 9 a.m. near Avenue B and involved a Ford Mustang Mach-E and a Nissan Rogue.

Officials said a woman in her 70s, who was riding in the back seat of one of the vehicles, died at the scene after being ejected during the crash.

Two other people were transported to the hospital in critical condition, while another person was treated for minor injuries, according to Hitchcock police.

Investigators said the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation. Authorities believe one of the vehicles crossed the median and entered opposing traffic lanes before the crash occurred.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team responded to assist with the investigation and crash reconstruction.
