GALVESTON — Access to Cruise Terminal 28 will be temporarily altered beginning May 29 because of an ongoing Texas Department of Transportation construction project, according to the Port of Galveston.
The change is expected to affect passengers sailing aboard the Carnival Breeze on May 30.
Port officials said vehicles traveling along Harborside Drive should turn north at 37th Street to access Cruise Terminal 28. An alternate route is to travel via Broadway before turning north on 37th Street.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while construction is underway.
Officials said entrances to Cruise Terminals 10, 16 and 25 remain unchanged. Passengers sailing from Terminal 25 will continue to enter the cruise terminal area at 22nd Street and Harborside Drive and exit at 23rd Street.
Port police will assist with traffic control during cruise operations, according to the port.
The traffic changes are tied to a larger TxDOT project at the intersection of 33rd Street and Harborside Drive. Construction includes repairs to sections of concrete and asphalt pavement along Harborside Drive and is expected to continue through the end of 2026.
Port officials said additional updates will be provided as information becomes available from TxDOT.
