Week Ahead

We’re starting to settle into a very summer-like pattern, with temperatures each day this week getting into the low 90s. With plenty of Gulf moisture in place, it’s going to feel hot and humid every single day. Warm mornings and humid afternoons will begin to become the norm as we head into the first week of June.

The forecast this week is much of the same each day, steamy upper 80s and low 90s temperatures each day, with partly cloudy skies. Not much relief is to be had overnight either, with low temperatures staying in the upper 70s each day. The forecast isn’t looking to notably change until this weekend, when increased rain chances may bring some relief to the heat.

“Feels-like” temperatures this week will begin reaching into the upper 90s, maybe even up to 100 degrees, so be sure to keep cool and hydrated.

Rain Chances Return

Daily, but low, rain chances will return beginning Monday morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day this week. Not everyone will see rain each day, but that may change as we head into the upcoming weekend on Friday and Saturday when rain chances increase across the area.

Should the forecast change in regard to increased storm chances, expect an updated detailed forecast pertaining to it later this week. As of right now though, this is not expected.

Hurricane Season Officially Starts

June 1st marks the official start of Hurricane Season. This year, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is forecasting a below average season. But, that does not mean you should let your guard down. All it takes is one storm to create a serious impact, so make sure you spend time this Hurricane Season to review your safety and action plans in the event a Hurricane impacts the area later this season. That being said, there are currently no hurricanes or tropical storms forecasted anytime soon.
