City of Galveston seeks applicants for four Park Board positions

GALVESTON — The City of Galveston is seeking applicants to fill four positions on the Galveston Park Board of Trustees, with appointments scheduled to be made later this month.

According to city officials, four trustee positions are set to expire at the end of June. Three of the positions are currently held by trustees who are eligible for reappointment, while one position is vacant. All candidates, including those seeking reappointment, must submit an application.

The Park Board of Trustees is responsible for promoting Galveston Island’s attractions, natural resources and heritage, while helping ensure visitors and residents have safe, accessible and enjoyable experiences.

Applications must be submitted by June 17. The Galveston City Council is scheduled to interview applicants on June 24 and make appointments during its June 25 meeting. Under city code, appointments must be completed by July 1.

Interested residents can apply through the city’s online board and commission application portal. Additional information is available through the City of Galveston’s board application page.

City officials noted that the current application process applies only to the Park Board. Interviews for the Planning Commission and Wharves Board will be conducted at a later date.
