Weekend Washout, Drier Conditions by Sunday

Aaron Quiroz Avatar

Scattered thunderstorms will continue throughout the rest of today and tomorrow. For those tired of the rain, I have drier conditions in my forecast expected by Sunday.

Until then, heavy rainfall is expected both today and tomorrow. Widespread rain totals of at least an inch can be expected though Saturday evening, with locally higher amounts upwards of 3 inches possible.

Detailed look at the weekend forecast below.

Friday

At the time of writing this post (7 am), Doppler 7 RADAR is already showing scattered thunderstorms ongoing across the area. Expect scattered thunderstorms to continue throughout the day, with heavy rainfall and perhaps some gusty winds associated with the strongest storms. Thunderstorms will give way to partly cloudy skies this evening, with rain resuming tomorrow morning.

Temperatures will remain warm in the mid 80s, with a nice sea-breeze for much of the day.

Hourly forecast for Friday June 5th.

The Weather Prediction Center has also outlined much of the Coastal Plains in a Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall today. Flash flooding in low lying areas is a risk for today with any areas that receive heavy rainfall. Always remember, turn around, don’t drown.

Weather Prediction Center Day 1 Excessive Rainfall Outlook

Saturday

My forecast for Saturday is much of the same as today. Scattered thunderstorms can be expected in the morning, persisting through the afternoon, coming to an end by the early evening hours. This will make for a wet morning and evening commute, so be safe driving.

It’ll feel warm and muggy once again, as is the theme for the summer. With a high temperature of 87 and a nice sea-breeze, once the rain ends in the late afternoon, it will make for perfect weather to take a walk outside.

Weather Prediction Center Day 2 Excessive Rainfall Outlook

The Weather Prediction Center has once again outlined a Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall for tomorrow, Saturday June 6th. With all the rain the area has seen this week and still to come, flash flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If you come across a flooded road, turn around, don’t drown.

Sunday

Finally after a week filled with daily thunderstorms, drier conditions are expected Sunday and will last through the upcoming week.

Partly cloudy skies with a high temperature of 89 can be expected. There is a very low chance of rain, less than 20%.

Other than that, I don’t have any other weather forecasted for Sunday, overall a very nice day is in store.
