
LEAGUE CITY — A League City man has been arrested following a joint investigation by local and federal authorities into allegations involving child sexual abuse material.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in May after authorities received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Detective A. Espinosa of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, who serves on the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, worked alongside FBI agents during the investigation.
On June 16, investigators executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 2500 block of St. Christopher Avenue in League City. During the search, authorities seized multiple electronic devices for forensic analysis.
As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Joshua Ballew was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography — More Than 50 Visual Depictions and Possession of Visual Material Depicting Sexual Assault.
According to the sheriff’s office, bond was set at $100,000 for each charge.
The investigation involved members of the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force, including personnel from the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, League City Police Department, Pearland Police Department, Texas City Police Department, La Porte Police Department, and the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office..
