Two Former Correctional Officers Arrested in Texas City Following State Investigation

TEXAS CITY — Two Texas City men were arrested Thursday following an investigation into alleged misconduct involving inmates, according to the Galveston County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office.

Deputies assisted the Texas Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force in taking Kenneth McDaniel Jr. and Kamron Kirk into custody at their residences.

Authorities said both men were charged with Civil Rights Violation – Sexual Improper Activity with a Person in Custody, a second-degree felony.

According to investigators, the arrests stem from a lengthy investigation by the Texas Office of Inspector General. The investigation alleges the two men engaged in sexual acts with inmates while employed as correctional officers with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

McDaniel and Kirk were transported to the Galveston County Jail, where they were booked on the charges.

Authorities said bond was set at $125,000 for each defendant.
